Apricot - Casino

A hardy apricot that produces an abundance of 3-4 cm golden-orange apricots which ripen in early August. The fruits are smooth and meaty with a honey-rich sweetness. The apricots can be used for fresh eating, baking or preserves. As it is an early producer, it is susceptible to early spring frosts. So, plant it where it is sheltered from warm afternoon sun so bloom time is delayed (shaded from the west). It is considered self-fertile, but productivity is greatly enhanced when planted with another apricot or Nanking cherry close by. Prefers regular watering and well drained, slightly acidic soil. It is drought tolerant once established.
