This vigorous growing, high-yielding cultivar from the Ben series produced by the Scottish Crop Research Institute is commonly used for commercial production. The shrub will produce clusters of 1 cm juicy, black, glossy, round berries that are high in Vitamin C, potassium and antioxidants. The berries are tart, but can be used for baking, canning, preserves, and juices. The leaves produce a strong black currant aroma.

Fruit is produced on second year branches. Prune at base after third year to make room for new growth. Compact, non-sprawling growth habit. Prefers a cool, moist, well drained clay-loam soil. Mulch with grass clippings to conserve moisture and maintain a cool soil temperature. Heavy feeders. Prefer good morning sun, but shade from hot afternoon sun. Shallow root system so ensure competition is removed from the surrounding area before planting. Provide good air circulation as it is susceptible to mildew, but is resistant to rust. Tolerates frost well.
