Gooseberry - Captivator

Nearly thornless European/American hybrid gooseberry with an upright growth habit. Produces an abundance of sweet, slightly tart, tear-shaped berries that become burgundy when ripe. The berries are rich in antioxidants, and contain vitamins C, B5, B6 and E as well as copper, manganese, and potassium. They can be used for fresh eating, preserves, jams, and juices (wine). Excellent resistant to powdery mildew and leaf spot. Tolerates heavy clay soil. Shade tolerant so good understory plant.
