A nearly thornless gooseberry introduced by Boughen's Nursery in Saskatchewan. It produces abundant clusters of 2 cm sweet, and slightly tangy berries. The berries start out green and turn a deep red when ripe. They are rich in antioxidants, and contain vitamins C, B5, B6 and E as well as copper, manganese, and potassium. They can be used for preserves, jams, and juices (wine). It prefers slightly acidic soil. It thrives in full sun, but tolerates shade so it is often used as an understory plant.
