Vitis 'Beta'
Beta is a cross between the native wild grape and the Concord grape. It produces clusters of 1 cm juicy blue-purple grapes. The grapes are similar to Concord in that their flesh is thick and tart, but the flesh is sweet. The grapes have a Brix rating of 16-18, and are best for cooking, preserves, and juice/wine. It is a heavy producer, and a vigorous grower and will spread on the ground if not trained up to a trellis. it will require strategic pruning for best fruit production. Prefers moist, well drained soil. Highly disease resistant.
