Polar Jewel is a medium-sized shrub with dense, compact growth habit. It is a mid to late season haskap. The dark blue, elongated berries (2 g) have a sweet taste and fleshy texture. Good for fresh eating, baking and preserves.

Haskaps, also known as honeyberries, are a hardy cross between a honeysuckle and a blueberry. Haskap are hardy to -47 ºC and their blossoms can tolerate a frost of -7 ºC without damage. Haskap berries take about 5-10 days after they turn colour to become fully ripe. Tolerant of wide range of pH, but prefer well draining soil (plant on hill or berm if poor draining soil). Requires pollinator to bear fruit.
