Rhubarb - Canada Red

Rhubarb is a vegetable, but is treated more like a fruit in the kitchen. Canada Red has striking red stalks that contain more sugar than some other varieties. The leaves are toxic, but the stalks can be used for pies, as a second ingredient in jams, preserves or frozen. It can produce 1.8 to 5.4 kg per crown per year (after second year). Can tolerate some shade, but does best in full sun. Beautiful fall foliage colours.
